Developmental Toys

Developmental toys teach through play, without the child having to sit down for a separate lesson. Here you'll find developmental toys for ages 1, 2, and 3, as well as developmental toys for babies: sorters, shape games, lacing toys, activity boards, and flashcards. Up to age one, sensory toys that are safe to put in the mouth and wash work best. A one-year-old likes putting things into openings and taking them back out. A two-year-old starts recognizing colors and shapes and can match simple things together. A three-year-old already follows a rule and sees a task through to the end. A good developmental toy doesn't do the work for the child, but gives them a task that's just the right level of challenge.
